23 May 2017

Today Mr Maude come into room 8 and told us kids about migration. “What did we learn today” we learn about migration and history. Mr Maude told us one story and it is about Rupe and how he found a new land.

Rupe went to talk to seven maori chiefs and he told them that Rupe has found land. “How did they get to that land” there are seven waka and they are called Aotea, Te Arawa, Tainui, Toroniku, Kura haupt, Takitimu, Mataatua. There was a chief named Ngatoroirangi, he was helping the chief that was on Te Arawa because he didn’t know which land he was going. After that Ngatoroirangi named some parts of the land that Rupe found. He named one Rangitoto, and other different names.

Mr Maude said, when she was little her mum and dad was working so grandmother was looking after her. She told Mr Maude about her history and what should when she grows up. Then Mr Maude said good afternoon room 8 and she left.
